Wild Ocean is in an uplifting, giant screen cinema experience capturing one of nature's greatest migration spectacles. Plunge into an underwater feeding frenzy, amidst the dolphins, sharks, whales, gannets, seals and billions of fish. Filmed off the Wild Coast of South Africa, Wild Ocean is a timely documentary that celebrates the animals that now depend on us to survive and the efforts by the local people to protect this invaluable ecological resource. March 2nd – April 30th 2010 Group Show: The Art Collective “It’s Not Easy Being Green” The message to “go green” has become part of our language and continues to gain momentum with the declining natural resources and improved education. This exhibit will examine the idea of “going green” but with an organic approach; included in the show are several artists who explore nature’s “greenness” as well as others who may take a more abstract look at what being green means to them. Passover Cooking Demonstration with Chef Monika Sudakov The Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities is beginning its Jewish Cultural Series 2010 with a Sephardic Passover Cooking Demonstration by Chef Monika Sudakov at the Hy- Vee Club Room on Devils Glen Road in Bettendorf on Sunday, March 7th at 3:00 pm. Monika is the Chef and owner of Chestnut Street Inn in Sheffield Illinois. She has a Master’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology which led her to cooking and focusing on the anthropology and researching the food habits of cultures around the world, particularly those of North Africa, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Inspired by the variety of spices, flavors and exotic tastes of these cuisines, she also chose to focus on these regions because she was fluent in French and many of these countries, including Morocco, were formerly French colonies. The term Sephardic refers to Jews that lived in Spain, Portugal as well as including countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. The cooking demonstration menu will include Roasted Pepper and Tomato Salad, Eggplant Salad, Chicken and Chickpea Tagine, Majoun (Date and Nut Confections used as Haroseth during Sephardic Moroccan Passover. The Series is sponsored by the Rauch Family Foundation II Inc., Alter Company, RSM McGladrey, Inc., American Bank and Trust, Elsie Kohen Charitable Trust, Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Weerts Funeral Home, Osco/Jewel, Dr. Andrew and Marilyn Berkow, and Laura Silverberg and Phil Seline at Smith Barney.
